How to size a dog collar
A collar that fits is comfortable, safe and stays exactly where it should. Two minutes and a tape measure is all you need.
Measure the neck

Take a soft tape
A tailor's tape is ideal. A piece of string and a ruler works too.

Find the spot
Wrap it around the middle of the neck, where the collar will sit.

Add two fingers
Slide two fingers flat under the tape. That is exactly the right amount of room.

Read in centimetres
Then find that number in the chart below.
Already have a collar that fits? Lay it flat and measure from the buckle to the hole you use.

Getting the fit right
- Between sizesThe sizes overlap. Choose the one where the neck sits nearest the middle of the range, so there is room either way.
- PuppiesChoose the size that fits now with room to grow, check it every few weeks, and size up when needed.
- The ear testPulled gently forward, the collar should not slip over the ears.
- SeasonsRecheck after any change in weight or a thick winter coat.
